Although the DC-One system was designed to manage the largest sized hotels in the world, the great flexibility of the system and advanced software has been discovered by all types and sizes of hotels.
DC-One stands for DUAL CARD. It combines
the economic and reliable magnetic cards for guests with flexible smart card technology for staff. With the DC-One system, the hotel obtains an optimal combination of the advantages that each technology offers.
The basic idea of the DC-One system is to enhance the hotel's security, facilitatethe hotel functions, and decrease the workload of hotel staff.
DC-One IR option
Central control is possible with infra-red communication to transfer data from door terminal units to a central control station. Some functions include direct cancellation of any card from any door, remote door unit control, “door-ajar” notification and battery status monitoring.
TimeLox DC-One Features & Design
DC-One system design
The basic system set-up is a main unit, consisting of a PC and a Dual Card Encoder. A standard magnetic card (manufactured according to ISO or ABA norms) or a smart card is issued at check-in, containing encrypted information such as hotel identity, time limitations, room number and additional door access.
The door terminal unit will – once the card has been inserted – read the data (the smart card data or the data on track 3 of the magnetic card) and grant access to the correct room.
The system can be expanded with a large number of check-in stations. It is also possible for two check-in stations to share one card encoder.
The DC-One system offers the following benefits:
Only one guest card or a set of cards belonging to the same guest party will be valid at any one time in a guest room
Fully tailored access for the smart card users
Card always carried by the guest
Privacy function, denying access to staff
Double locking, i.e. dead-bolt and latch
Anti-panic release by a simple downward turning of the handle
A very powerful log of the 3000 latest events in each door unit
Hotel Efficiency
Easy operation with built-in guidance
All cards issued can be easily verified
Cancellation of a card is individual and does not affect other cards
Routines for double-check of room cleaning can be created by reading out staff cards
Reliability
The DC-One terminal door unit lets staff know if the door is locked from the inside by a signal
Each DC-One door unit can operate for 2-3 years on a 9 Volt alkaline battery
When power drops, a 'battery-low' alarm signal alerts the staff
The DC-One encoders also indicate guest room number during the encoding process, important when two check-in stations share one encoder.
Security
Each door unit logs who opened it and at what time
The 3000 most recent events are logged
Individual password to the DC-One software with individual access to the specific operations
